5 healthy habits to extend your life

Did you know by implementing just 5 simple habits into your life, you can extend it by 12-14 years? That's a lot of time!

According to a study by Harvard medical school, here are the 5 things we all should implement into our daily lives to live healthier and happier, and I bet some of you are doing it already!

  1. Don’t Smoke

  2. Maintain a Healthy Diet

  3. Maintain a Healthy Weight

  4. Exercising

  5. Limiting Alcohol

So, how do you implement these things into your daily life?

Don’t smoke:

This one seems like a no-brainer. We all know the health problems that come with smoking, but if you are struggling with a nicotine addiction you should consult with your doctor about quitting!

Maintain a healthy diet:

A healthy diet consists of minimally processed foods, whole grains, vegetables, fruits, nuts and any

natural source of protein from beans or fish.

Maintain a healthy weight:

Exercising regularly and eating a well-rounded diet will help you maintain a healthy weight that will prevent diabetes, heart disease, breast cancer, and other cardiovascular health issues.

Exercising:

Ideally, just 30 minutes of ANY moderate exercise a day, even walking, is very beneficial for your health! There are many easy ways to implement a more active lifestyle like using a yoga ball or standing desk at work, or trying to reach 10,000 steps a day - the suggested guidelines of the CDC

Limiting alcohol:

Alcohol can slow your metabolism and be taxing on your liver. There is nothing wrong with a glass of wine, we all need it once in a while - but all in moderation! moderate alcohol consumption as consuming is translated to no more than one alcoholic beverage per day.

All in all, if you try to implement these five habits into your daily routine, you will be able to live a longer, happier, and healthier life! Now, who wouldn’t want that?
